Science and Innovation 2026
in Numbers

Under the theme “Preparing for the Future, ” the Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026 served as a forum for sharing and collaboration, bringing together researchers, higher education institutions, companies, entrepreneurs, public policymakers, and representatives of civil society.

Of the 206 proposals submitted, 20 sessions were structured and organized around six broad thematic areas , defined using a bottom-up approach based on topics proposed by the community itself: Digital; Health; Territory, Agriculture, and Environment; Industry and Energy; Society; and the Science and Innovation Ecosystem.

The proposals involved more than 1,200 participants and approximately 1,000 different organizations (academia, companies, government agencies, and industry organizations), highlighting the diversity and breadth of the national science and innovation ecosystem. Over the course of the two-day event, 150 pitcheswere presented by approximately 1,000 proposers and co-proposers.
