More than 200 proposals submitted for the National Debate at Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026

The call for proposals on topics for discussion at Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026 drew significant interest from the scientific and innovation community, with a total of 206 submissions received between May 26 and June 16.

Proposals will be reviewed by the Organizing Committee of Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026, and the selected topics will serve as the basis for organizing panel discussions to be included in schedule . Participants come from a wide variety of fields and sectors, both public and private, including collaborations between research institutions and companies.

Participants were invited to form groups and identify specific issues regarding the future of science and innovation in Portugal, as well as the related scientific, societal, and/or economic factors and impacts.

This call for participation aims to promote broad,“bottom-up”engagement in the process of consulting the community on the implementation of the strategic areas of the new Agency for Research and Innovation (AI²). Each session will have a moderator and a rapporteur, and a summary of the main contributions will be presented during the meeting.

The Portuguese Science Summit Innovation 2026 will take place on July 15 and 16 at the Lisbon Congress Center. Registration is now open.
